History

H & H Automotive started out in a small 2-stall shop in Savage, Minnesota in May 2004. The owners, Mike Hammond and Bill Halverson, previously were both employed in the aviation industry for over 20 years. Mike had also been doing auto mechanics part time out of his garage since 1974. After getting laid off in 2003 by Northwest Airlines, Mike expanded his part time auto repair shop into a full time occupation. Mike started off with about 25-30 customers and once he publicly announced he was going to be doing auto repair full time out of his garage the customer list started to grow. Mike also took a job with Champion Air flying the NBA basketball players around for a year in order to supplement his income while his auto repair shop expanding. By the end of the 2003 basketball season, Mike's auto repair business had grown enough that he could finally say good-bye to the corporate aviation world. In March 2004 Mike and Bill formed "H & H Automotive" and started buying equipment and getting set up in a small 2 bay shop. On May 15, 2004 they started working on customers cars.

Mike and Bill's Motto is "The Job Done Right At A Fair Price"! They believe customers should be treated with respect and not taken advantage of. Many customers have come to H & H Automotive with estimates of work that other shops have given them. Often these customers were being taken advantage of and were told repair work was required when actually the work didn't need to be done at all. Mike and Bill believe there is enough honest work out there. They feel if the customer is treated well and the job is done right at a fair price, not only will customers come back, but also they will refer other customers to H & H. In April 2005 Mike and Bill moved from their original small 2 bay shop to an improved location where 5 vehicles could be worked on at once.

H & H Automotive's business has grown from approximately 20 customers to over 300 in under 2 years. They not only service individual's vehicles, but also specialize in fleet accounts with several local businesses. H & H provides their larger accounts with a special discounted fleet rate as an added incentive.
